SCOPE:
This position is required for routine registry operations of the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. This person has an ODS-C and experience with cancer registration and is expected to participate in advanced registry activities, including assisting in updates of RCRS data. Will independently perform abstracting for all cancer types.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
• Active ODS-C (Oncology Data Specialist-C) Certification through the NCRA is highly preferred.
• 3 or more years of experience in Oncology Data Collection is required; Experience as an Oncology Data Specialist is highly preferred.
• Associate’s degree in an allied health field or post-secondary coursework in human anatomy & physiology required
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Certified Oncology Data Specialist

Baton Rouge General is looking to hire a full-time Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C). The ODS-C plays an essential role in capturing and managing cancer data to support high-quality patient care, while contributing to cancer research, treatment, and prevention initiatives. This position is responsible for abstracting reportable malignancies and benign cases in accordance with the Louisiana Tumor Registry (LTR) and national guidelines. The ODS-C ensures accurate data abstraction, coding, and staging while maintaining compliance with all standard-setter requirements and program accreditation standards. Additional duties include casefinding, quality assurance, assisting with tumor conferences, quality assurance, and ensuring complete follow-up on analytical cases.

Senior Certified Oncology Data Specialist

Remote Position ** The Louisiana Tumor Registry is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Oncology Data Specialist (ODS). In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the accuracy of oncology data by performing case abstraction, advanced case editing, consolidation, and quality assurance activities.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Abstract clinical information from medical records and translate it into standardized
      codes.
    • Review and consolidate abstracted data from multiple sources.
    • Screen pathology, radiology reports, and other documents to determine case reportability.
    • Assist in data quality assurance and participate in continuing education and training.
  • Qualifications:
    • Minimum of 3 years experience as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) formally known
      as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR).
    • Strong attention to detail, coding proficiency, and experience with SEER platforms
      preferred.
